10 Reasons to Begin Every Day With Delight!

begin day with delight2 1. Leap from Delight to Desire!

The things you desire most are found on the other side of delight.  Take a leap!

As you delight yourself in the Lord He will give you the desires of your heart.  Psalm 37:4

2. Take your medicine. Get well soon!

A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing, but a broken spirit dries up the bones. Proverbs 17:22 (NLT)

3. If you’re going to walk with Jesus don’t you think you’d better meet?

Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”  Matthew 11:28-30 (MSG)

4. Break off yucky stuff from yesterday

It’s a new day, begin again.   Life with Jesus is about fresh starts!

But forget all that – it is nothing compared to what I am going to do.  For I am about to do something new. Isaiah 43:18-19

Because of theLord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morninggreat is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV)

5. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

Begin with a large bowl of delight – filling and satisfying!

Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.  Nehemiah 8:10

6. Begin the day looking for a good fight.

What land are you giving me today, Jesus?  What adventures do you have planned for me today?  Whose life do you want me to impact today? To live with intentionality means to live with awareness.  Ask Him!

Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 1 Timothy 6:12

7. Take Delight in a Good Shower!

Get cleaned up if you’re a mess!  (Aren’t we all, from time to time?)

Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. Ephesians 5:25-26 (NLT)

8. Don’t leave Home without Him!

Settle this.  With Jesus – everything, without Him – nothing.

I have strength for all things in Christ who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me].  Philippians 4:13 (AMP)

Apart from me you can do nothing.  John 15:5 (NIV)

How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?” Exodus 33:16 (NIV)

9. Knowing Jesus is serious fun!

Joy comes from wholehearted obedience.  Think of laughing with a good friend.  I mean laughing until your ribs ache and you have tears in your eyes.  Lighthearted.  Happy.  Joyful.

“I’ve loved you the way my Father has loved me. Make yourselves at home in my love. If you keep my commands, you’ll remain intimately at home in my love. That’s what I’ve done—kept my Father’s commands and made myself at home in his love.

“I’ve told you these things for a purpose: that my joy might be your joy, and your joy wholly mature.

John 15:9-11 (MSG)

10.  Your turn!

How do you delight in God today?  Don’t stop at one thing, get fired up.  Begin every day with delight.

Did this “reframe” your day?  How did beginning your day with delight change you?  Thanks for sharing.
