What One Thing Could You Do Today That Would Have the Greatest Impact on The World?

change worldWhat if ….?

What if you asked yourself this question every day and then took one bold step to change the world around you?

The world is yours, you know. God put you here to influence it, to steward it and to bring heaven to your little piece of the world.  God’s plan for Adam and Eve was for them to rule (have dominion) over the earth and take care of it as part of God’s family. Instead, they gave the planet away to Satan by choosing to follow him instead of God. (e.g. Romans 6:16, 1 John 5:19, Luke 4:5-8).

Jesus, the second Adam, restored God’s plan when He restored our relationship with God. That’s why Jesus taught us to pray, “Let your will be done, let your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.” “On earth as in heaven” is God’s plan for us.

Your Assignment

You are to establish the righteousness, the joy and the peace of God (His Kingdom) in your family, with your friends, in your school, work or wherever life takes you. Your assignment is to overcome evil with good. God has specific plans for each of us on this planet, to take and hold a territory and establish the kingdom of God there. (Jeremiah 29:11, Ephesians 2:10)

You were born for greatness.

When you were young you knew that. You accepted it without question. As a kid, you knew you would be somebody special; you would leave your mark on the world. Over time, life got a little more complicated and you listened to those who “pulled you down to earth.”

Be practical. Don’t be different. This is how we do it. Don’t worry, everyone loses their dreams when they grow up.

Lies! Lies! Lies!

You were born with heart desires for acceptance, love, joy, significance, justice…. They are as much a part of you as your physical DNA. God made you with these desires.

And only He can fill the deepest desires of your heart. God made you to Be with Him, to Become like Him, and to do great things with Him.

There are Two Parts to Your Life Calling: Being and Doing

1. Being – Be REAL

Maybe the greatest thing you could do today is begin the process of being who you were made to be. When you know who you are, you will know what to do.

Now, when you start thinking this way the first thoughts that come into your mind are about how inadequate you are. Let’s laugh at those lies!!

Think about it.

Stubbornness is perseverance used against people. Use your stubbornness for others and you will be a hero! It’s a good thing you’re so stubborn!

Greed is wanting things for yourself. Want things for others and you are an advocate, a positive force for social change.

God is fully able to turn the weaknesses you give Him into strengths!!

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

Renew your mind to the possibilities of your life.

“…let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” Romans 12:2 (NLT)

2. Doing – Live REAL

Ask Jesus, “Jesus, I know you have plans for me today. How can I impact my family, friends and those around me today? What adventure do you have planned for me?”

Get quiet and listen. Jesus loves it when you want to do things with Him. Listen and you will hear, see and know what to do.

He may tell you to right a wrong or do random acts of kindness. He may tell you to have the courage to pray for a miracle and watch it happen before your eyes. Or He may ask you to give to someone who is desperate for love, money, or someone to listen to them.

I find that Jesus often doesn’t tell me everything.  Sometimes He just gives me the first step.  As I do that, He shows me what to do next.

Now, Do it!

Determine in your heart that the sun will not go down today until you have changed the world in some small way. Be brave. Step out. And let God be glorified through you today!

So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. Ephesians 5:15-17

Then celebrate! Journal it, so you don’t forget how great you are IN HIM. Then, begin another adventure tomorrow.

Be REAL! Live REAL! You are going to have an influential life!

Please honor and respect others in your comments. Thanks!
