Sometimes the Most Heroic Thing to Do is Rest

Come.Get away.Recover your life.Take a Real RestSeveral weeks ago, I wrote a blog post about rest that was one of my most liked and shared posts in social media.  My brother liked the post and responded something to the effect of, “That’s a great idea.  Why don’t you try it?”

Busted!

It’s true.  I don’t rest well.  But today I am resting.  I had a procedure done on my back two weeks ago and for the month of December I will be resting.  I will post once a week.

As I entered this “involuntary” time of rest, I’ve struggled with physical pain, but the time I’ve spent with God has been awesome.  I’ve heard so much and been so encouraged in the last two weeks.  God told me resting was important.  And now, He’s showing me.

I’m going to be careful what I write about in the future!  Smile.

Come to me.

Get away with me and you’ll recover your life.

I’ll show you how to take a real rest.

Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it.

Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.

I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.

Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
Matthew 11:28-30 (MSG)

May I encourage you to be heroic in your pursuit of rest (without having to have a medical procedure)?  Here’s what I wrote about rest that I’ve been living:  Be a Hero: Take a Real Rest.

How is that working for you?

Please honor and respect others in your comments. Thanks!
