Today, I Choose Rest!

 The Monday Morning Ugh!

It’s Monday.  Ugh!

You look at what’s ahead of you today and you’re stressed before your head even leaves the pillow.  You’re feeling uncomfortable in the pit of your stomach.  You pick up your phone to turn off the alarm and you see the Word for today:

Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

Matthew 11:28-30 (MSG)

Deep down inside you, a lion roars.  Good morning, Holy Spirit!!  You smile. This is going to be good.  You jump out of bed, ready to fight for this day.

You Choose

Over morning coffee, you speak out Matthew 11:28-30 as declaration prayers. (Yes, out loud.  The lion roars.)

  • I am coming to you, Jesus. I’m going to have a crazy busy day, but I’m going to do it with you.
  • Today I choose rest. I’m not going to let others choose what my day is going to be like. Today I will recover my life.
  • As I walk through the day, you will show me how to take a real rest. You will bring rest, peace and joy to my heart and my mind.
  • Today I walk with you. I work with you. I watch how you do it. As I walk with you, fear and stress fall off me.  They have no place in your presence.
  • Today I learn the unforced rhythms of grace. Grace means that you are pleased with me and that you give me favor. I walk in your pleasure and your favor today.
  • Grace also means you give me power to do things.  You also give me favor to say “No” to the things I don’t need to be doing. I walk in the power of your grace today.
  • You won’t allow me to be overwhelmed. Nothing too heavy, nothing that I can’t handle will come my way. Your power sustains me.
  • I’m learning to walk through life’s storms with peace and joy in my heart.
  • Just as you calmed a mighty storm by speaking to it, Jesus, I speak to my day and I say: “Peace, be still.”

As you declare the truth, you feel peace moving into your heart.  Stress falls off you.  You smile.  You were put in your environment to bring the peace and joy of heaven to that place and those people.  World changer, you are going to have a great day.

Now, do it again tomorrow.

I would love to hear your stories and your thoughts!!

Please honor and respect others in your comments. Thanks!
