Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept It

Your MissionTuesday the clerk at the grocery store will wince with pain from carpal tunnel in both arms as she checks you out.  Thursday, your niece will defiantly declare that she is homosexual.  And Friday the Holy Spirit will tell you that your neighbor is selling drugs to the stream of people you see coming in and out of his house.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to is to be the light and the love of Jesus in each of these situations. Your mission is first to be and then to do.

It’s as though Jesus is saying: you don’t have the answers to the situations. You don’t have the power to change them. I do. You will need to come to me and hear my thoughts and learn my ways to deal with each of the situations. As you spend time with me, you will become more like me. Your presence in the grocery store, in your niece’s life and in your neighborhood will change the environment around you. This is the plan I have for you. I am telling you of the specific challenges so you will be prepared. You won’t know what to do until I tell you.

I’m giving you a three-step process to fulfill your mission.

1. Be with Me.

Come to Me…  Matthew 11:28 (NIV)

Is my joy to use you to heal, deliver and bless other people. But you are always on my mind. It’s your heart that I’m after. You are so precious to me. In everything I do with and for you, restoring you to the fullness of your relationship as a son or daughter of God is always first. Your calling and your destiny are first” to be” and then “to do.”

2. Become like Me.

So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.  2 Corinthians 3:18 (NLT)

I’m not like you. Don’t go off on your own and start hacking at the branches of evil.  I don’t get upset about the symptoms of a problem. I’m concerned with the roots.  Without my help, you will probably get upset about the symptoms. And most likely you won’t even correctly identify the roots of these problems.

The way you think and your ways are definitely not my ways.  But being with me changes you. After you spent time with me you begin to think the way I do and my ways become your ways. So spend time with me and just enjoy the time we have together. Over time, you will be transformed. And from this new identity we will walk together in my thoughts and my ways.

3. Do the works of I do.

“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works….  John 14:12 (NLT)

Yes, there is much to do.  From being with me, you take on your new identity.  Your thoughts and ways become like mine.  And from this new identity you launch out as together we will change your world.

The darkness over the Earth is increasing. The darkness over the people around you is growing darker and darker. Their ability to see and to follow the light is decreasing. The minds of many are losing clarity in their ability to distinguish good from evil.  Their walls are coming down. Dark forces are invading the lives of people you brush elbows with every day, even the people you know and love.

This is your mission, should you decide to accept it.  Be with Me.  Become like Me here on the earth.  Do what I did and even greater things as I empower you.

What do you say?
