So Many Voices, So Little Time
There are so many voices calling your name right now. Really, only one matters. And if you’re really busy you probably aren’t hearing Him.
Every new invention seems to enable us to do more in less time. Yet, our amazing “time saving” devices don’t save time at all. They simply enable others to demand more from us. We are a world obsessed with speed and production.
The same devices that connect us, separate us. We are distracted. We “multitask” – another way of saying we ignore who is in front of us to annoy someone who isn’t. We have become a culture of distraction and churning busyness.
Recover Your Life
Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
Matthew 11:28-30 (MSG)
Come.
Get away.
Recover your life.
Take a Real Rest.
Walk with Me.
Work with Me.
Watch How I do it.
Learn grace.
Nothing heavy.
Nothing ill-fitting.
Learn to live freely.
Learn to live lightly.
Return to Your First Love
There are so many voices calling your name right now. Really, only one matters. Return to your first love.
But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ. 2 Cor 11:3 (NASB)
This morning, I hear God calling me to a life of simple, pure devotion to Jesus. I believe He is calling you too. But that means I will have to have the courage to stop the busyness. I’m ready. I think I can do that. I’m going to do that.
What a great day this is going to be. Will you join me?
